Why Study Geography & Environmental Studies?

The purpose of the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography and Environmental Studies (GES) is to provide students with an understanding of the discipline of geography. This includes courses in physical, human, and cultural geography, as well methods courses that provide exposure to the various tools and techniques of geographic research.

Scholarship Opportunities

Dane Vogel Scholarship

Award Type: Merit-based

Award Amount: $1,000


The Dane Vogel Memorial Scholarship is available to declared Geography and Environmental Studies (GES) majors at the sophomore or higher level. This is a merit-based award; students must have a minimum overall grade point average of 3.3 for all courses taken at UCCS.

 

Jacquelyn Beyer Fellowship

Award Type: Fellowship

Award Amount: $500


A minimum value of $500.00 scholarship is available for women geography majors and/or women interested in women's or lesbian studies. The scholarship is available each fall and spring semester and can be used for undergraduate or graduate work.
